How to spend a day in Slovenia if you’re a true petrolhead?
We might just have something for you. In small town down in south-east Slovenia named Krško, lies the best racetrack for go-kart racing in the whole country. There you can further improve your knowledge about the perfect racing line in powerful 2 stroke racing karts with the help of true professionals, or you can just have a huge load of fun all by yourself, just for the sake of it.

The road to get there can be straight forward if you choose so, or it can be truly engaging experience with a lot of sightseeing and most importantly – great driving roads, so you can get your adrenaline dose even before you get there. Which one to take? That probably depends on the car you choose and the mood you’re in. In something like BMW 5 series you can just choose the A2 motorway, set your cruise control on 130 km/h and enjoy the one-hour drive in luxury and calmness, but if you choose an agile, responsive sports car such as, let’s say a Porsche 911 GT3, you just might consider going down this road. A path of twists and turns, near-perfect pieces of tarmac with the scenery to complement it. 30 horsepower might not seem like much, but when you strap it to lightweight go-kart and give it space to breathe properly, it becomes a weapon which can, at least on this track, destroy even the almighty Porsche 911 GT3. If you think speed and acceleration is brutal, think about more than 2G-s lateral you’ll be pulling through turns 1 and 2 on racing slicks. It’s so extreme that after 10 minutes, your whole body will be begging for you to stop. But no, that’s not you! You have to go for another round just because this time, the instructor explained it to you, how to get an extra second or two off your lap time, by following his advice through two combinations of technical turns.

Unique holiday experiences

So you go out once more, determined that this is it. You accelerate, brake, turn and drift your way around a lap and return to the pits with even bigger smile on your face. Just a quick look on the clock reveals that this expert really knows what he’s talking about and so do you. Naturally you want even more. We all know where this ends up don’t we? It ends up with you, having the best time of your life, which also thankfully didn’t break your bank account.
Actually now it’s getting late in the day so you are probably feeling hungry and we’ve got just a place for you to recharge. It’s a place where you can really enjoy a fine Slovenian cuisine, with complimentary glass of local wine after positively exhausting day on the racetrack. It’s called Restaurant Debeluh which is located just 15 minutes from the racetrack in the small town of Brežice. The restaurant is situated in old city center with picturesque castle and water tower nearby. It’s also one of the best restaurants in this region, where food is more like an adventure to the world of fine cuisine from cheff Jure Tomič.
A fine way to end a day full of adrenaline rush, great scenery and exquisite domestic food in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
